Hola Mohalla is a vibrant Sikh festival celebrated annually at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab, India. It usually takes place in March, a day after the Hindu festival of Holi. The festival was established by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1701 to showcase the martial skills and bravery of the Sikhs.

Here are some key highlights of Hola Mohalla:

  • Martial Displays: The festival features mock battles, displays of weapons, and various martial arts demonstrations, including Gatka (a traditional Sikh martial art).
  • Processions: There are grand processions with participants dressed in traditional attire, accompanied by war drums and standard-bearers.
  • Cultural Activities: The celebrations include kirtan (devotional singing), poetry readings, and religious lectures.
  • Community Meals: Langar (community kitchen) is an integral part of the festival, where everyone, regardless of background, is welcome to partake in a free meal.

Hola Mohalla is a time of great festivity and showcases the rich cultural heritage and martial tradition of the Sikh community.
